The Code of Virginia requires that an applicant for a Virginia Concealed Handgun permit demonstrates competence with a handgun by showing proof of firearms safety training. This may be achieved by completing either our Basic Firearms Safety class or our Utah Concealed Firearm permit class. Either of these classes will meet the Virginia requirement to apply for a Virginia CHP.

Once you have completed the class, you will receive a certificate. You will need to take a photocopy of that certificate to your local Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. There, you can obtain an application for a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit (or you may print one ahead of time from the link above.

Some jurisdictions require fingerprinting. The Clerk’s Office will advise you if this is a requirement in the County/City where you reside, and where to go to get fingerprints done.

Submit your completed application, a copy of the certificate from your safety class, your fingerprint card (if it was required), and the permit fee of $50.00 (some jurisdictions do charge less, but by law it can be no more than $50.00). Once these items are submitted to the Clerk of the Circuit Court, they have 45 calendar days to either issue your permit, or give you a reason why your permit was denied.

Special Class!

 

The Nation’s Gun Show!

Proactive Shooters is proud to announce that we will be conducting our Basic Firearms Safety class at the Nation’s Gun Show in Chantilly, Virginia. This class will qualify you to apply for a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.

The class will be conducted on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 and Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 from 12 noon – 5pm each day. You only need to attend the class on one of the two days.

Class location will be at the Hampton Inn Hotel, Chantilly, Va.

 

The hotel is located at 4050 Westfax Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151, and it is a 5 minute drive from the Dulles Expo Center.

Seating is limited, so early registration is recommended. Upon completion of the class, a certificate will be provided that will allow you to apply for your Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.
